Live bait fishing tips and techniques
Fishing is as much an art as it is a sport. Much depends on your techniques for fishing that yields a good catch. Live bait fishing is the most common type of fishing done by fishers across the world.
Fishing itself is one of the activities that have multiple issues involved. Live bait fishing is one of the major issues you confront when you take up fishing in any form. Just putting live baits for fishing does not help in getting good catch. Useful techniques help in enhancing the chances of good catch using live baits.
Live bait fishing obviously includes fishing with live baits. Various types of live baits are there. They include minnow, crickets, grasshoppers, grubs, leeches, maggots and hellgrammites and many more. Fishes have very good sense of smell. This is one of their characteristics that most of the fishers fail to understand. Most of the times when your hand or body smells due to use of something like smoking it will affect your fish catch adversely as fishes will turn away from the bait you have set up for them. This is one of the strangest yet true facts of life.
Hence when you go out for the live bait fishing you can grab handful of grass and rub it on your hands. It will remove all the unnatural smells that your hand has and in the process you will be able to get good catch with your live bait. Also when fishing with live baits you must take care to make your bait look as natural as possible in water. Unless the live bait looks like something the fish is acquainted for eating they will not be lured with the bets. Your catch will therefore be affected adversely.
Several ways of carrying live baits are there. For water dwelling baits you may carry the minnow bucket. However if you are going to fish for longer period you will need an aerator or you will have to change the water frequently. If your live bait is something like worms, maggots, or grabs, you may carry them in a bait bag. Also remember live bait fishing is more effective than the dead bait fishing. |
